Eight battlegrounds

The Arenas

Each arena is a readable combat floor set inside its own world: a quarry, a sea cliff, a mountain meadow, a mushroom wood, a river market, a summit observatory and a winter grove, around the cedar court where it all started.

Fifteen heroes, three roles

The Rascals

Five melee bruisers, five ranged casters and five healers, each with a toon skin and a detailed skin, a resource of its own and fifteen active abilities. Pick one to see it move and read its whole kit.

Abilities in action

Fire, water and a lot of claws

Footage from the game itself: the Emberscale showcase firing its five signature moves at training rivals, and solo kit matches where rascals trade real abilities under the server's rules.

Around the fights

The game around it

A carved-wood interface from the title screen to the ladder: hero select, a full combat HUD, results, and online Quick Play, Ranked and custom Lobbies with match history.

Play it

Install on a Mac

Five steps

  1. Ask the developer for the Forest Rascals installer for Mac (a file ending in .dmg). You need a Mac with an Apple chip (M1 or newer), macOS 14 or newer and about 4 GB of free space.
  2. Double-click the file. In the window that opens, drag Forest Rascals onto Applications, then eject the installer.
  3. The first launch needs one extra step because the game is not notarized yet: open Applications, right-click Forest Rascals, choose Open, then Open again.
  4. If macOS still refuses, open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway next to Forest Rascals, then launch it again.
  5. The title screen appears. Choose Play practice to try any rascal, or Play match for a solo three-on-three against computer rascals.

The full guide, including online play and a note on Windows, is in the project at docs/guides/install-and-play.md. Windows builds are not available yet.
